Private school associations reject summer vacation extension orders
Associations representing private schools in Sindh had rejected a seven-day extension in the summer vacation announced by the provincial government on Thursday. After extension up to August 10, all the educational institutions of Sindh Province would reopen on August 11, said a statement on Friday. He said it seemed that most of the areas of Sindh like Karachi, Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas were completely safe from floods.
The association said that the school will remain closed during the upcoming local government elections and the children will further suffer due to current extension in holidays.
Dismissing the Sindh government flooding argument, the Rabita Committee said there is no flood-like situation in the megacity; hence, the schools should open on August 3rd.
The Association is of the view that the districts that are not affected by the floods and monsoon rains should be allowed to resume educations in schools from August 3.
Shah said in view of notification issued by the Sindh government, he had already met with Secretary Education Sindh Fazullah Pechooho and appealed him to review the decision. He said the Sindh government should have consulted with experts before announcing such a decision. However, the secretary responded that he had asked Karachi to be exempted from this notification but since the chief minister had given the orders, he, himself, was not in the position to take them back.
However, Syed Khalid Shah, Haider Ali and Shehzad Akhtar reiterated that all the private schools would reopen from Monday.
