Raiders Considering Adding Retired Running Back Marshawn Lynch
Raiders radio announcer Greg Papa also hinted at the possibility of Oakland signing Lynch during a local radio appearance Thursday.
The two teams could work out a trade, or the Seahawks could release Lynch and make him available. As ESPN noted, Seattle’s general manager, John Schneider, and Oakland’s GM, Reggie McKenzie, worked together in the Packers’ front office, which could help the negotiations move forward. Per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Lynch is in shape but is still deciding whether to resume his playing career.
In addition, there is the issue of what would be required, in order for Lynch to play for the Raiders. For a start, while the five-time Pro Bowler may genuinely be considering returning, he is renowned for being extremely unpredictable.
Lynch retired following the 2015 season.
I’ll party-poop this one first.
One question that Seahawks fans keep asking on social media is whether Marshawn Lynch unretired and actually plans on playing during the 2017 National Football League season.
“He said it every year”, Delisa explained.
“No, I’m done. I’m done”, he told SI. Now it’s time to watch my cousins and all the athletes that I like watching.
“I hope so, but I doubt it”, she said.
And, according to Huffington Post sports columnist Jordan Schultz, Lynch has already asked the organization for his release and has been rocking Oakland Raiders gear. Lynch was a 5-foot-11, 200-pound running back/linebacker who led the Bulldogs to the Oakland Section championship with a performance for the ages at the Coliseum. The Raiders’ offensive line is miles better than what Lynch was running behind in Seattle, and Derek Carr leads a more vertical passing game that benefits running backs.
