UCLA jumps out early, in control of Kent State at the half

The media tour of LaVar Ball is not expected to negatively impact the draft stock of Lonzo Ball.
LaVar Ball has been running his mouth for the past couple of months and Steve Kerr believes it’s not helping his kids.
UCLA leads the country in FG shooting at 52 percent and scoring at 90 PPG, and simply outclasses Kent State.
Lonzo Ball, UCLA One-and-done star plays with plenty of poise and flair, leading the nation in assists (7.7).
Of course, the big story coming out of this game will be the health of Lonzo Ball. He was also nursing a thumb sprain suffered in the Pac-12 Tournament last weekend.
These two teams have met twice in NCAA Tournament history – a Cincinnati victory in the 1962 National Semifinal and a UCLA second-round win in 2002.
Ball’s early highlights included a dunk off an alley-oop pass from Holiday and a layup in which he cradled the ball in his right arm before somehow flipping it into the basket while being fouled. He had 15 points and 11 assists. I think the Bruins scoring will really cause a problem for nearly any team it faces.
I like UCLA in this tournament. Leaf had 16 by halftime, including two from a soaring one-handed dunk.
In short, this stunt of a basketball game proved nothing. “So we know how to do it”.
“We didn’t start the game off very well”, Kent State coach Rob Senderoff said after the game.
“Our defense has been asked about all year”, Bryce said. The Golden Flashes were just fourth in the MAC East this season, but won four straight games to take the title and get to 22-13 on the season.
LaVar Ball, as USA TODAY Sports’ reported, averaged 2.2 points per game as a college player. Jalin Avery and Danny Pippen were the only other Flashes to score at all with 5 and 2 points respectively.
Walker knocked down a jumper in the lane and got the deficit down to five points, 52-47, and Hall appeared to further cut into UCLA’s lead when he got fouled on a made layup attempt.
The Bruins have the second easiest route to the Finals in the South region.
