UNC’s Roy Williams ‘hopeful’ Joel Berry II available for Arkansas game
So you live and you learn in situations like that. “If we can do that, I feel like we’ll always have the advantage”. You obviously don’t want to be – your dream is to win them comfortably. But Woods took his coach’s words in stride and thinks it has made him a better player as the season has gone along. “We’ve just got to bring our A-game”.
“Arkansas likes to make the game chaotic, and I think that’s fun”. “So we’ve got to figure out somebody to play”. But we can’t go out and draft anybody. They also lost at Georgia Tech and at IN, two teams that did not even make the NCAAs. If I can put all three of them together and have one player at the end, I wouldn’t be that anxious.
Since seeding began in the NCAA Tournament in 1979, the Tar Heels have been a No. 1 seed 16 times, the most of any team. Arkansas did not score through the final 3:28, allowing North Carolina to reclaim the lead and clinch the victory. The Hogs and the Heels is one of those special storylines in the NCAA Tournament history, and tomorrow the story continues. The game wasn’t without controversy, though, as Seton Hall was called for a questionable flagrant foul when they tried to foul, down 72-71, with 18.3 seconds left on the clock. It didn’t fall, and when Hicks grabbed the offensive rebound and went up with it, he was met with a vicious block by Arkansas’ Moses Kingsley. It was just two teams playing each other, and we were the underdogs. “I know I felt going into the game exactly how I feel right now, that we’ve got to attack, attack, attack – under control and not turn the ball over”.
Like Anderson, Williams prefers to cultivate, educate and watch his kids mature, so he’s mostly stayed away from the one-and-done route.
But the Razorbacks went minus 14 rebounding hole against Seton Hall yet won the game forcing 15 Seton Hall turnovers while their depth wore down Seton Hall’s seven-man rotation. They had lost their ability to run their offense. Senior Nate Britt started in Berry’s place and averaged 6.5 points, 6.5 assists and 2.5 steals. Who knows what would have happened had SHU not been hit with a flagrant, but they never scored again, going 0 of 2 from the floor the rest of the way.
Check back for complete post game coverage as soon as the game is over. Arkansas averages better than 80 points per game, but it would be an impressive task to get to that number here in this one.
