Former EPA Head: Trump’s Budget an ‘All Out Assault’ on The Environment
That’s in part because the proposed cuts were all offset with increased spending on the military. The White House budget released Thursday hacks the Environmental Protection Agency’s budget by 31 percent, and budgets for climate change programs across the State Department, NOAA, NASA, and the Interior Department are also slashed.
Mulvaney said Trump’s proposed budget increases spending on his priorities without adding to the deficit.
Senator Marco Rubio of the Republican Party said he does not support the proposed 28 per cent cut to worldwide affairs budget and diplomatic efforts led by the State Department. “America First” reads the title of this document, which calls for spending $2.6 billion on securing the U.S. -Mexico border, including Trump’s wall. Mulvaney said to reporters.
The Trump administration would eliminate the National Endowment for the Arts, National Endowment for the Humanities, Corporation for Public Broadcasting and other federal funding institutions.
While on “Meet The Press”, Mulvaney also addressed the backlash to President Trump’s assertions that former President Obama wiretapped Trump Tower before the election, and the president’s subsequent comment to German Chancellor Angela Merkel, “at least we have something in common”. To make a dent in the national debt, Trump would have to cut entitlement spending.
The budget blueprint is not a complete budget, meaning it will not include revenue projections, any impacts to mandatory spending and policy projections. Yesterday, the White House released its first budget blueprint, also referred to as its skinny budget, and the consensus all around is that the proposed budget will not make America great again.
The blueprint next goes to Congress. And the federally funded Child and Adult Care Food Program, which feeds over 4 million children daily in child care centers, family care homes, and after-school programs, has provided kids better nutrition than they’d get elsewhere, which in turn is associated with better educational outcomes.
Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration: SAMHSA will receive a budget increase of $500 million to aid in substance abuse treatment activities, expand opioid misuse prevention efforts and increase treatment and recovery service access.
As of Friday afternoon, the link was deleted from the White House website. (The question showed that, in a sense, every Beltway homeowner has an interest in keeping the government big.) Clearly Mulvaney had heard the real estate question before.
“I don’t know yet”, the director answered.
Only four times since 1960 has the United States managed to post a balanced federal budget, and that was 1998-2001, at the tail end of the Clinton administration when Congress and the president made a joint commitment to fiscal discipline.
“Part of the problem with Obamacare right now – and I’ve discovered this firsthand, I live in SC – we’re down to one provider”.
