Congressman Arrington praises Trump’s proposed budget

It’s one of 62 agencies or programs under the knife if the Trump budget is approved.

According to the 62-page document, the departments that would see the largest increases in their spending capabilities are the Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security in relation to their budget for immigration enforcement.

There’s lots more where that came from. Numerous cuts it proposes are transparently created to play to Trump’s populist constituency rather than save any meaningful amount of money.

At the K-12 level, many after school programs could also be hit hard by the changes, as the budget proposes the elimination of the 21st Century Community Learning Centers program, which provides federal grants to before school, after school and summer programs. “Meals on Wheels sounds great”.

“Every House member, which I used to be, has a constituency”, said Mulvaney.

In most cases, state and local governments don’t have the funds to pay for those efforts, which cost a total of $427 million annually.

Numerous proposals are likely to be reworked by Congress. “So we save the taxpayers money, no question about it”.

Elaine Lee would feel the cuts of the new budget too.

“As expected, there are no details about Trump’s “phenomenal” tax plan or any entitlement reform proposals, but we know from prior Administration commentary that the White House is avoiding cuts to Social Security and Medicare (and ACA repeal counts as entitlement reform to some extent)”, Cohn noted.

Perhaps that $52.3 billion could be better spent somewhere else.

Many on the left were predictably outraged over Mulvaney’s words, and expressed their dismay on Twitter.

If Trump wants to issue more debt, he will have to broker a deal with Congress to raise the debt ceiling to well beyond the $20 trillion we carry now. “We consider that to be a waste of your money to go out and do that.’ So that is a specific tie to his campaign”, Mulvaney said.

Friday’s edition of the “1600 Daily” highlighted a Washington Post article by humorist Alexandra Petri with a deceptively positive title: “Trump’s budget makes flawless sense and will fix America, and I will tell you why”. It is a very conservative budget, rather than populist budget.
