March Madness 2017: Ranking and previewing all Sweet 16 teams
UCLA went on to win 79-67.
This season, both teams boast many NBA Draft prospects.
Lonzo Ball in two NCAA Tournament games: 16.5 PPG, 6.0 APG, 5.5 RPG, 13-17 from the field, 6-10 from 3-pt, two turnovers in 72 minutes.
Only Mike Krzyzewski, Bob Knight, and Dean Smith have more wins than Adolph Rupp, who earned 876 victories in 41 years as coach of the Wildcats, including four national titles (1948-1949, 1951, 1958). “The level of coaching in this league, the resources in this league, the level of talent in this league, it will come to the top at the end of the year”.
Next up: A blue blood rematch with Kentucky in the South Regional semifinals. A&M’s previous worst loss had been 82-56 to Purdue in the Sweet 16 of the 1994 tournament. Crean was sacked last week after a nine-year stint with the Hoosiers and almost one year after IN defeated the Wildcats IN the second round of the NCAA Tournament IN Des Moines, Iowa.
The Bruins secured three Pac-12 “road sweeps”, picking up road wins at Colorado and Utah (Jan. 12, 14), at Washington State and Washington (Feb. 1, 4) and at Arizona State and Arizona (Feb. 23, 25).
The conference that had the toughest early rounds was the Atlantic Coast Conference. Make sure you don’t miss the Kentucky Wildcats vs. the UCLA Bruins battle in Memphis, but first off let’s take a look on some helpful insights that could bring you some money!
Steve Alford has never won a sweet 16 game. UCLA shot an absurd 63% overall and an even 50% (7-14) from 3.
Florida, Purdue, West Virginia and Butler were the four No. 4 seeds that moved on. This time, bookmakers don’t find the two teams separated by much. Got up and was able to shoot the free throws, but limping to locker room at the half. Few coaches have escaped the wet form of congratulations.
UCLA coach Steve Alford has been mentioned as a possible target to replace Tom Crean at Indiana.
MI coach John Beilein arrived for his postgame news conference having been through the water treatment.
“We don’t have set-in-stone positions”, Bryce Alford said.
“I’m really proud of the guys. So proud of them”.
That doesn’t mean Kentucky will win.
It was just the final score in a remarkable season.
We start off with some talk about the women’s team as they rolled through the first two rounds which were hosted at Pauley Pavilion. “If I’m LeBron, I’m asking for that one, too”. “Can’t get an assist without them scoring”.
During a weekend that saw defending champion Villanova and hated rival Louisville fall in the second round, Kentucky is glad to be moving on from Wichita State.
Make no mistake about it: Beating the Bruins will be a tall order. He was part of an early-game lineup against Wichita State that gave United Kingdom a lead after a quick deficit. It matters what we think.
One below-average season changed perceptions of Alford quickly. Alford’s veteran leadership on the floor could prove to be a critical asset for the Bruins, especially in high-pressure situations late in the game.
“It’s survive, advance and move on”, he said. “We’re in it – why not win it? That’s all you can do is stay aggressive and continue to trust in what you do, and we both got hot”. He’s going to have to get in the gym and the shot’s going to have to be more consistent.
“I think the difference is in the last seven weeks we’ve been better defensively”.
The Bruins’ game against Kentucky will begin at approximately 6:40 pm PT (8:40 pm CT). Two other league schools – Florida and SC – are in the Sweet Sixteen.
Between them, Kentucky and UCLA have five projected first-round picks per DraftExpress.com.
Khaalia Hillsman, Curtyce Knox, and Danni Williams all scored ten points for Texas A&M, while Korver led the Bruins with 21. Bryce is a negative on defense and in a grind out first half, Aaron came in and made two steals doubling down in the post. While the Bruins play at a breakneck pace and have one of the best offenses in college basketball, the Bearcats want to slow it down and wear out opponents with physical play. Maybe there are times that I’m looking at (a game) and saying, “we could lose this game” and then I’m going to stand up (and take charge).
