Speaker Ryan Spurns Health Care Talks With Democrats
Speaker Paul Ryan said Tuesday he’s going to give battered House Republicans another crack at a health care overhaul. This was a party-wide failure. Instead, Ryan has become an enabler of Trump’s chaotic and ethically challenged governance. “I thought she was going to talk about something else'”.
MCEVERS: Tax reform – we’ll have more on that in a moment.
“So the nation, the world super power, the American government needs to do everything we possibly cannot only to undercut what they are trying to do but to uncover what they are trying to do and help our allies prevent this from happening”, Ryan said.

He also said he didn’t tell Nunes to go brief Trump, but figured he “was gonna brief everybody”.
DAVIS: Oh, they think it’s significant.
Perhaps most unforgivably, the White House and congressional Republicans now have made a decision to move on.
“But he hasn’t. I mean, he hasn’t even informed the Republican committee”, O’Donnell said. Here’s what he had to say. This is not on President Trump.
Perhaps the initial tax legislation will start in a better place, the process will be more deliberate and Trump will get immersed more readily in something – the tax code – central to his business dealings. “I don’t – Nancy and I see things very, very differently”.
“They don’t agree with most of what Republicans are proposing, so it’s only natural to vote no”.
Conservatives who have revived the effort to repeal and replace Obamacare say their goal is to come up with a deal that the House could pass by May or even sooner, before lawmakers attempt to tackle tax reform, the Washington Examiner reported.
Shea Cox, a 21-year-old computer science major from Shelbyville, Tennessee, said the bill failed because Ryan rushed what Cox called a “complete hack job” that “looked nearly exactly like “Obamacare” with a couple of things taken out”.
I hope and pray Donald Trump and his team get the message. “I don’t think there are 60 votes”.
“So really, that was completely coincidental and I know he was right when he says that”.
So can this unwieldy coalition come together on the next big priorities?
The Trump administration also has floated the idea of working with Democrats on an infrastructure bill. “And that’s not, that’s hardly a conservative thing”.
“When the Democrats rammed through Obamacare, they did it on a strict partisan basis”.
With midterm elections coming next year, Wasson said he planned to vote again for his congressman, Rep. Rod Blum of Dubuque – a sentiment echoed by other voters whose representatives opposed the bill. She led her show by calling for House Speaker Paul Ryan to resign, blaming him for the defeat of the bill in the Republican-controlled chamber. You know, but if they need Democrats, President Trump’s going to have to settle for a lot less. Do not worry, we are in very good shape! “It’s funding from April 28 to September 30”. You all know that he does that in various forms, including Twitter. And House Speaker Paul Ryan – despite saying Friday that “Obamacare is the law of the land” – appears ready to keep going as well.
DAVIS: There has been some criticism. “A complete outsider. Someone beholden to no one – but them”, Pirro said straight into the camera on her TV show.
MCEVERS: NPR’s Sue Davis on the Hill, thanks so much.
