Elaborate Game of Thrones set being built in Co Antrim village
[Benioff and Weiss] feel like there’s two more years after six.
Season eight might not be the end for everything Thrones related on HBO. “I would always love for them to change their minds”, Lombardo told the press as quoted by The Los Angeles Times.
“It really would depend fully on what they wanted to do”, he said. Lombardo talked about the possiblity of doing a prequel series and said that he is open to anything that the current Thrones showrunners, David Benioff and Dan Weiss, would like to focus on. There’s enormous storytelling to be mined in a prequel.
“I think “seven seasons and out” has never been the conversation”, Lombardo says.
“Game of Thrones” has been a boon to the North Irish economy thanks to growing tourism from obsessed fans. One such violent scene that earned the ire of critics is the death of a 7-year-old character in season one.
Lombardo has previously gone on record admitting that he wants to see “Game of Thrones” run for a decade: “We started this journey with David and Dan. It’s their vision”.
“I can’t speak to any single person’s particular taste…”
However, Lombardo did not rule out the possibility of a spin-off series like “Fear the Walking Dead” and “The Walking Dead”. The suspicion heightened when actor Kit Harrington was spotted filming in Belfast. After being done with the show’s fifth season, the network is looking to extend the show to three more seasons before they finally end it for real, according to KTSP.
Nevertheless, although the proof is sufficient to increase hypothesis, HBO programming president Michael Lombardo made it clear on Thursday that “lifeless is lifeless”.
