Cleveland Browns reportedly torn between Myles Garrett and Mitchell Trubisky
Take a look at just about any 2017 National Football League mock draft and you’ll see the Cleveland Browns drafting pass rusher Myles Garrett at No. 1.
Being the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft comes with millions of dollars and entrance into an elite club of men once regarded as the top football prospect in the world. He stated if he is not taken No. 1, he will make it his life’s goal to take out whomever is taken ahead of him.
Cleveland has been more often linked to Myles Garrett and Mitch Trubisky at No 1.
Garrett made a plea, jokingly, to the Cowboys to trade up to the No. 1 spot to draft him.
The Browns, who have two first-round picks, are expected to take the Texas A&M defensive end first and then come back to use the No. 12 selection on a quarterback like Clemson’s Deshaun Watson or Texas Tech’s Patrick Mahomes.
Still, 49ers fans might be intrigued to learn Garrett is not necessarily off the table. The reason Garrett is so highly regarded is because teams don’t see many OTs in the league who will be able to stop him. But would Trubisky last till the Browns’ second pick in the first round at No. 12?
This latest report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter must be linked to the Browns continuing attempts at swiping Garoppolo, because no team would be so reckless as to pass up on Garrett. A lot of the experts have got Mitchell Trubisky going here, and it would make sense. I’ve talked about their team, and their lack of toughness – their lack of physicality – it’s one of the things that I’ve always looked at in Myles Garrett.
The 2017 NFL Draft will take place April 27-29 in Philadelphia.
Let’s start at the top and that’s the consensus first overall pick.
But could Cleveland be willing to roll the dice on one of the prospects in this draft instead of taking Garrett because of its desperate need for a quarterback?
“I gotta win Defensive Player of the Year, whether it’s my first year or anywhere down the line, but that’s what I’m going for in my first year”, Garrett said.
