Brandon Boykin clarifies comment about Chip Kelly and ‘men of our culture’
Eagles quarterback Mark Sanchez addressed the issue on Sunday, according to PhillyMag.com, and he shot down the notion and asked the media to quit asking players about it. You can’t worry about next season, that will take care of itself if you play well. “There’s only so much you can do in 7-on-7 (drills)”. Tomlin said C Maurkice Pouncey, who started training camp on the physically unable to perform list, should practice on Monday. “Mike’s not going anywhere”, Kelly said, via the Philadelphia Daily News. Upon his arrival, while most weren’t familiar with him they welcome the addition of anyone who is here to help the team win. “I was doing a lot of things without it and I felt fine”. The compensation might not be a big difference maker, but in the end, it’s better that the Eagles got something, if anything, back for him. “I was just happy to be out there and to start playing football again”.
McLane also wrote that Bradford has ditched a bulky knee brace in favor of a sleeve.
The Eagles traded Nick Foles and two draft picks to the St. Louis Rams for Bradford and a draft pick in a blockbuster deal in March. He said the Eagles had not approached him about extending his contract beyond this season.
At Steelers camp, Boykin softened his words by saying he didn’t believe Kelly was racist, but simply lacked the proper communication skills. Matt Tobin took the first-team snaps at right guard, while Allen Barbre was at left guard.
“Mychal Kendricks is not going anywhere”, he asserted. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said the Steelers got a “ready-made starter” in Boykin. And that’s all I can speak for personally. “We’re all rotating”.
Alex Kozora reported in his training camp diary for Steelers Depot that Roosevelt Nix on Saturday got some one-on-one time with running backs coach James Saxon before practice. Other times, he threw effortlessly, like on a crossing pattern to receiver Jordan Matthews that hit him in stride.
Offensive tackle Lane Johnson was Kelly’s first draft pick.
But Bradford, 27, hasn’t filled that potential. Kelly tends to have very strict attributes he looks for in players and does not stray from them, even if a player who falls outside those attributes performs well (which Boykin certainly did; he was arguably the team’s best defensive back the last two seasons).
Kelly’s system, however, is known to be quarterback friendly. Sanchez had never completed more than 56.7 percent of his passes in four seasons with the Jets.
The question will be if Bradford can stay healthy. Bradford provided a glimpse Sunday. “It got to the point where I didn’t need it”, Bradford said.
