Samsung Releases an “Infinitely Amazing” Galaxy S8 Commercial
Samsung has considered flexible screens in the past and concept ad made a few years ago shows how a foldable smartphone could work. In an official tweet this morning, Samsung will be “unboxing” its Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus on the 19 of April, 2017.
Samsung Electronics is now concentrating its marketing resources on overseas markets as well, Chinese in particular, for a long-term success of the phone. The company previous year discontinued the Galaxy Note 7 production in just a few months after its release due to the battery defects that were believed to have caused fire on the device. Numerous investors withdrew their support from Samsung when the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco took place.
On March 29, Samsung held an unveiling event in New York City to announce its latest smartphones. The only numbers they revealed were those of the pre-orders in South Korea, its home market, and were over 728,000.
It seems Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus units will be coming with a reward eCertificate of $100 from Samsung.
The new device, equipped with either 5.8-inch or 6.2-inch (14.73 cm or 15.75 cm) curved screens, sports the largest screens to date among all of Samsung’s flagship phones due to a redesign.
Samsung has been trying hard to regain its reputation in China which was damaged even further following the mishap surrounding the Galaxy Note 7 devices and their recall.
“We felt really comfortable that we had attained a level of confidence with consumers so that we could actually shift to the product campaign”, said Pio Schunker, global head of integrated marketing for Samsung’s mobile business. This is the Galaxy X, on which Samsung has been planning for a while. Earlier this week, for example, ET News reported that Google was considering an $877 million investment in LG Display to ensure its access to LG’s OLED (organic light-emitting diode) flexible screen technology. However, in a recent statement to The Verge, Samsung has confirmed that Bixby Voice would not be available at the time of launch and would only come to the Galaxy smartphones later this spring.
