The potential raises the likelihood of more automaker reviews over hacking vulnerabilities, an issue that has snatched the consideration of controllers, administrators and people in general.
Fiat Chrysler has since admitted to violating the Safety Act in three areas: effective and timely recall remedies, notification to vehicle owners and dealers and notifications to NHTSA.
The recall was triggered by reports that cybersecurity researchers were able to remotely gain control of a Jeep Cherokee engine as it was driving.
This incident threw Fiat Chrysler in the defensive end, saying that it had secured the problem in its vehicles’ cellular telephone network to avoid the same attacks in the near future and had essayed a voluntary recall. “You’ve got to see the entire industry proactively dealing with these things”. Search for it at the NHTSA site.
“It’s not just about the hack”. He added that the NHTSA has yet to begin formal investgations on the reported cybersecurity issue of GM.
