April the giraffe gives birth
April, a giraffe at a NY state zoo, gave birth Saturday on a widely-and-intensely-watched live stream. Well, he didn’t really bounce.

Buzzfeed News has isolated the exact moment of birth and it can be viewed below. The Facebook feeds captured it all.
“Everybody are you watching?!”
According to the NY zoo, April had a “perfect delivery” and they are planning to announce the gender soon.
The father of the calf, Oliver, ate and paced nervously while the mother of his calf pushed.
Keeping the calf “would lead to incestuous mating and undermine the genetics of the program and species”, the Animal Adventure Park’s website says.
This video shows the actual birth. Newborn giraffes usually start standing within hours – a feat that helps them avoid predators in nature. Though the YouTube video is wonderful, keep in mind, this is not the best footage.
Animal Adventure says the baby giraffe will stay with April for six to 10 months before it is re-homed. On Saturday morning, more than 800,000 were watching the live feed. But once the tip of her baby’s nose emerged, the birth was over quickly.
The year 2017, when people watched a giraffe for 2 months. Thousands upon thousands of commenters voiced their frustration on Facebook and YouTube, and the stream was restored within an hour or so. By new developments, viewers are probably speculating that April’s birth is finally drawing near. Watch the Giraffe Cam as April introduces her spindly new baby to the world.
Zoo officials have yet to announce the calf’s gender. April has already been an experienced mommy because this is her fourth or fifth calf. The mama giraffe tenderly licked her calf, which began to slowly pick its head up from the floor of the pen. You may see that photo below.
The wait for the giraffe became an anxiety-ridden experience for some.
One person just tweeted: “Today is the day men get their wives back!”
A lot of other publications are also keeping track of the development of April the giraffe’s pregnancy.
