Clinton: This Is Why I Lost to Trump
Hillary Clinton said Thursday she was “deeply concerned” by Russian meddling in the US election, and that potential Russian ties to the Trump campaign must be investigated. “I think we should’ve been more willing to confront Assad”.
Five months removed from the November election, former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is still blaming everyone but herself for her electoral defeat.
This story has been corrected to show the spelling is Nicholas Kristof, not Kristoff.
Nearly four months after her stunning defeat, Hillary Clinton on Thursday primarily blamed her loss to President Donald Trump on four factors that were beyond her control.
“Putin publicly blamed me for the outpouring of outrage by his own people, and that is the direct line between what he said back then and what he did in this election”, she said. “Boy, do I relate to this”, said Clinton, paraphrasing Eleanor Roosevelt.
“As a person, I’m okay”, she said.
“I am establishing new vetting measures to keep radical Islamic terrorists out of the United States of America”, Trump said in January after he signed his first attempt to ban refugees from certain countries. She said that Republicans should also be concerned of what Russian Federation did. “I don’t know, maybe you were dropped by immaculate conception?”
Clinton said there were “lots of contributing factors” that led to her demise, chief among them being Russia’s “weaponization of information”. “That was somewhat gratifying”.
The lingering disappointment among her supporters in the room was clear.
“It’s fantastic news and I know everybody in Scotland will be really excited to hear President Obama is visiting Edinburgh and really looking forward to what he has to say”.
Clinton reflected on her election loss and lessons learned from what happened. Clinton is expected to address more than 2,400 people.
Hours before the attack, Clinton called for the attack in the war-torn country. The statement from the former FLOTUS came amid reports that her name is being tossed around as a possible runner in the mayoral race in New York City where Democrat Bill de Blasio is the incumbent.
Clinton aides say that she is still mulling over what she would like to do in the coming years, and has been reaching out to friends, donors and other associates to keep the lines of communication open.
