Bill O’Reilly to get payout up to $25 million

On Wednesday rumors began swirling that Bill O’Reilly was out at Fox News, and before the end of the day, the rumors turned into fact. The “vast majority” of those have gone to the men who were removed from the network due to the allegations, with the Times reporting that up to $65 million has been spent on severance.

Protestors rallied to get Bill O’Reilly fired and advertisers jumped ship after a New York Times reported that Fox News paid $13 million in settlements to women accusing O’Reilly of harassment. O’Reilly was a tabloid staple for two weeks back in 2004 when an associate producer at The O’Reilly Factor filed a sexual harassment claim against him. His nightly program, “The O’Reilly Factor, ” generated high ratings and pulled in hundreds of millions in advertising revenues.

That’s not even the full amount of O’Reilly’s contract, which extended to late 2020/early 2021.

But the new contract provided the company with some protections.

The American TV star was sacked by Rupert Murdoch on Wednesday after reports that five women were paid millions of dollars to keep quiet about sexual harassment claims.

Fox News host Bill O’Reilly was ousted from the network this week amid allegations that he sexually harassed several women over the course of his career.

“O’Reilly spoke for the common person”.

Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes left the network last summer after he also faced allegations of sexual harassment, including from former Fox anchor Gretchen Carlson.

His 8pm programme, which mixes discussion segments with his pugnacious commentary, drew an average of four million viewers each night during the first three months of the year, the most ever for a cable news programme. The allegations against O’Reilly go as far back as October of 2004, nearly 13 years prior to his termination.
