Deputies: Missing Polk County girl, 6, grandfather found killed

Authorities arrested 25-year-old Cheyanne Jessie early Sunday after finding the bodies of her 50-year-old father, Mark Weekly, and his 6-year-old grandaughter, Meredith Jessie, slain and stashed in a neighbor’s shed.

Polk County Sheriff’s Office detectives are asking for the public’s help to locate two missing people.

Meredith Jessie, 6, and her grandfather, Mark Weekly, 50, were reported missing Saturday.

Detectives searching through the evening discovered the bodies of the both as “victims of murder”, the Polk County Sheriff’s office said. They had last been seen at Weekly’s home in Lakeland, where the girl had been left in his care. A missing persons report was filed by another family member on August 1. She has been charged with two counts of first degree murder and one count of tampering with evidence.
