AC/DC’s Rudd pleads not guilty to breaching detention rules
WELLINGTON Phil Rudd, the Australian-born former drummer for rock band AC/DC, was remanded on bail by a New Zealand court on Monday for breaching the conditions of his home detention, media reported.
Under the conditions of his sentence he was ordered not to consume any alcohol or drugs that were not prescribed.
A New Zealand judge has allowed Rudd to remain in home confinement on bail pending a November hearing. Nevertheless, consuming alcohol would doubtless be thought-about on the decrease finish of potential breaches.
He was serving eight months’ home detention for threatening to kill and possession of methamphetamine and cannabis. He also acknowledged that he said directly to the victim he was going to kill him.
The 61-year-old was arrested last month at his mansion in Tauranga, in New Zealand’s North Island, and charged with possessing and consuming alcohol.
Rudd’s erratic behavior outside the courthouse has become a feature of his recent appearances. He typically doesn’t wear dentures, sometimes making his soft-spoken answers hard to understand. He was subsequently given a brand new bail situation: that he bear drug and alcohol testing every time police request it.
Rudd, who’s interesting towards his conviction and sentence, can’t depart his giant waterfront home in Tauranga, about 200 kms (125 miles)…
It’s unclear whether or not Rudd has any future with AC/DC, which is presently touring with Welsh drummer Chris Slade.
