Moms reveal what they really want for Mother’s Day

Moms don’t care about the type of paper. “You were all so sweet”, she recalls. It is not about flowers, cards, and meals out. You were comforting when I displayed my anger through tears, and very huggable during happier times. Sonam Kapoor: My mother had a great deal of trouble with me, but I think she enjoyed it. Throughout her life, she has been playing the different roles in our life to make it smoother and easy-going.

In Britain and some parts of Europe, the fourth Sunday of Lent was often celebrated as Mothering Day, but that has been replaced by Mother’s Day, for the most part. The dreams you dreamt for who your child would become, weren’t any less the dreams of a mom. She won’t forget that day!

And it is in that spirit that you should honor your mother, stepmother, aunt or foster parent or grandmother, whoever the woman is who made a valuable mark on your life. God has given to mothers, and to fathers, the responsibility to teach and guide our children toward him.

On this one occasion I brought along a devotional book to read to my mom.

I am also incredibly lucky and blessed to have at my side a woman who makes the most important job in the world seem effortless.

“He walked in with a stick and a rock”, she said. She does unimaginable things and no matter how hard it gets, she endures. As I was reading to her that day I took a chance and said something about God’s love in Jesus, which I’ve not done much before.

A little over three years ago I knelt before a row of flickering candles in a church I didn’t belong to and said goodbye to a baby I didn’t have. So don’t get upset that you and the Ground Hog only get one day. “I have three attractive children and they are each a blessing”. They even convinced my dad to get a cleaning lady in once a month.

I wanted to be the ideal mom, to not make some mistake that would ruin my kids’ lives. Then take them to see her for hugs and kisses. They gave me gifts for birthdays and Christmas. If problems occur they are the strongest person to hold back and we can always rely on them; help us when we are undergoing certain emotional or physical problems along the way in the challenges of life. For those whose moms have passed, remember that her love endures even death. Thank you for your actions words and love.
