Kane has no reason to leave Tottenham, insists Pochettino
– Harry Kane is the fifth player in Premier League history to score 25-plus goals in successive seasons (Robbie Fowler, Thierry Henry, Alan Shearer and Robin van Persie are the others).
Tottenham had failed to score in three of their last six away fixtures but there were no such concerns here as Kane opened his account on 23 minutes when he converted a cut-back from Son, who had sprung the Leicester offside trap. We have a very exciting project, there’s no reasons for Kane to want to leave the club. He’s the first Tottenham player to accomplish the feat and also the third-youngest after Michael Owen and Fowler.
“Our fans need to be calm”.
“We will keep the players that we want to keep”, Pochettino said.
Tottenham Hotspur can not compete with their Premier League rivals offering huge wages in the transfer market despite securing a Champions League berth for the upcoming season, manager Mauricio Pochettino has said.
The north London side are also building a new stadium which Pochettino has stated he believes will take the club to the next level.
“When he was injured, many other players scored, like Son or Alli, it’s true, Harry Kane is our main striker, one of the best in the world”, the Argentine said.
Tottenham had gone 13 consecutive matches without a draw and Leicester’s promising start in the first half seemed to suggest that they could get a decent result in the penultimate game before the final day of the season.
“It is disappointing to concede but hopefully we can keep a clean sheet against Hull”, added Kane, who has scored five hat-tricks for his club in just over two years.
He is now two in front of Lukaku in the race for the golden boot.
“I wanted to get one or two goals at least and take it to the final game”, Kane told Sky Sports.
Leicester saw off their title chase last season and ended up being crowned the unlikeliest champs of all time.
And when Son added a second in the 36th minute you sensed this game was only going to go one way.
Tottenham: Lloris; Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Trippier, Davies; Wanyama, Eriksen, Alli; Dier, Heung-Min Son; Kane. “This group deserves to win something”.
“They are an excellent side, I knew that before the game, but obviously we were totally second best”.
Kane turned provider for Tottenham’s fourth goal in the 71st minute as his pass teed up Son to flash a fine finish past Schmeichel. “What I would say is that I think if we’d won, I’m not sure that would have done my chances any good as well”.
“I think it was fantastic”.
