Arsene Wenger: Arsenal’s season far from a disaster

But Wenger insisted there was nothing odd about the atmosphere. “It’s a Tuesday night maybe, people think Sunderland is an easy game, so there were less people”.
“There is a shortage of top-level players, because there are some big teams in Europe who have top players but they do not need to sell them. We are sold out”. The game was sold out on paper, but that was not the case when looking into the stands. The actual attendance was probably closer to 40,000.
“There’s no information about that”, said Wenger.
Arsenal could face the prospect of even more empty seats at the Emirates on Tuesday, though, with more than one fan group considering staying away to highlight their displeasure with the team’s results this season.
I feel in Spain, Real Madrid can win games by playing some at a lower percentage of the maximum than you can in England.
ARSENAL manager Arsene Wenger is optimistic his side can steal into the Champions League places after beating Sunderland 2-0 to keep their hopes alive.
“They had that awful run of form around the Christmas period and the players and manager couldn’t turn that around quick enough to give themselves a good chance to get into the top four”.
Wenger has never finished outside of the top four in a full season at helm since his appointment in 1996. But the Frenchman is more optimistic. I think we have a chance.
“Let’s make 75 points and if we look at the number of points we can make it one of the best in the last 10 years”, he said.
“But anyway, I answered for 20 years the question, “the top four is nothing special”.
“Usually you lose the next game because everybody switches off, so I told the players who wanted to have a breather, “Now you can become immortal”. If we make 75 points, we can only be beaten by one point. It’s hard for everybody [in this league].
