France’s Macron holds talks with Syrian opposition after meeting Putin
The czar’s 1717 visit paved the way for diplomatic, economic and cultural exchanges between France and Russian Federation.
Standing side-by-side in the opulent surroundings of the Gallery of Great Battles, the two leaders initially appeared to be on the same page, pledging to work together to fight terrorism.
The atmosphere between the two men was cordial and relaxed.
Later, Simonyan said that Sputnik and RT would go to court over accusations made against the outlets by the headquarters of French presidential candidate Emmanuel Macron about the spreading of “fake news” regarding his alleged offshore bank accounts after Macron filed a legal complaint, not targeting any specific party, over allegations that he owned an offshore bank account in the Bahamas.
He made the comments during a Monday press conference with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin. Macron had strong words for Russian Federation in his race for the presidency, saying France and Russian Federation don’t share the same values.
Putin noted that recently there has been a certain shift in cooperation with the United States.
“President Trump is acting in accordance with his competence, in accordance with his law and Constitution”, Putin said.
Putin said the “Russo-phobic hysteria” in the U.S.is aimed “against the current president of the U.S.to prevent him from working normally”, but predicted “this will end, sooner or later”.
He says the meeting with Le Pen didn’t represent an attempt to sway the race.
Macron portrayed the meeting as just a first step in resetting the country’s relations with Russian Federation.
The paper said at least two had been killed by relatives and a third died after being tortured.
Last fall, Putin abruptly canceled a visit to France after Macron’s predecessor, Francois Hollande, decried Russian bombings in the Syrian city of Aleppo as a “war crime”.
Russian Federation is not a member of the global coalition, but has suffered ISIS-claimed attacks, and has struck targets in Syria since September 2015, where it says it is fighting the group.
Mr Poupard said “the most nightmare scenario, the point of view that Rogers expressed and which I share” would be “a sort of permanent war – between states, between states and other organisations, which can be criminal and terrorist organisations – where everyone will attack each other, without really knowing who did what; a sort of generalised chaos that could affect all of cyberspace”.
Macron said he wanted to revive the “Normandy format”, which includes the leaders of Russia, Germany, France and Ukraine.
Macron said he wanted to strengthen cooperation with Russian Federation in seeking a solution to the Syria conflict.
The unannounced meeting came just a day after Macron had met with Russia’s President Vladimir Putin, a key backer of the Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad, to discuss among other things, the continuing conflicts in Syria.
He said that any use of such weapons in Syria would lead to “reprisals” from France – without specifying exactly what form they would take.
Mr Macron said the Russian leader told him he had attempted to “establish the complete truth on the activities of local authorities” but did not provide details.
Macron took the same stance, saying: “I want us to organize a democratic transition but also preserve a Syrian state”.
Talk about making a statement.
The venue for the exhibit and Putin’s visit was the sumptuous Palace of Versailles, west of Paris.
