Human-caused wildfire forces out long-weekend campers near Harrison Lake
The massive Martin Mars water bomber has been called in to help fight a nine-hectare fire on the west side of Harrison Lake.
The B.C. Wildfire Service says turbulent atmospheric condition offers the challenge circumstances for hearth team members.
About 20 personnel are fighting the blaze, located about 20 kilometres from the community of Harrison Lake.
MacPherson says about 20 folk’s are wrestling the kindle fire, in association with about three machines and airtankers that might be falling both h2o and resistant upon the firestorm.
“This fire was completely preventable”, said MacPherson.
“We are responding to a fire that is about 4.5 hectares in size”.
Many people also set up their own camps in the backcountry, and about eight Mounties are patrolling the area, some on quads, to inform people of the fire danger.
The fire started Sunday afternoon and is in a remote area.
She says while people in the work area were asked to leave, no one has been evacuated, and no homes are threatened at this time.
