Apple’s long-rumoured Siri smart speaker is already in production, according to a new report by Mark Gurman at Bloomberg.

According to a Bloomberg report, Apple might announce a new hardware that may be termed as the “Siri Speaker” at this year’s WWDC.

The idea of a voice-based Siri platform for the home that complements Apple’s Home platform as well as services like Apple Music is tantalising. Until now, Apple users haven’t had that option, which is why a lot of them own an Echo or a Home.

There’s no word yet on a possible launch date, but considering the devices are allegedly being manufactured now, we may very well get some sort of announcement next week at Apple’s annual WWDC event.

There have been reports for some time that Apple may be ready to enter the smart speaker space, a market that has thus far been dominated by Amazon and its Alexa assistant. It’s unclear if the Siri speaker will indeed make its debut at WWDC, potentially significantly ahead of its actual launch, though in some ways the developer audience there does make sense. Needless to say that the Apple’s Siri-enabled speaker would mainly attract users who are dependent on the Apple ecosystem and uses a large number of products and services of Apple’s. He states that the service revenue might double three years from now.

The Siri speaker is also expected to lay enormous emphasis on “superior” sound quality to sell its competitive product in the market.

This has been the major difference between Apple and the other two majors, Google and Amazon.

It was reported earlier this month that Apple employees were testing the Siri speaker in their homes for several months. The speaker is also expected to support AirPlay and the ability to stream content or mirror it to your TV.
