Trump goes after London mayor again after terror attack

Trump tweeted Monday morning that Khan had offered a “pathetic excuse” and “had to think fast on his “no reason to be alarmed” statement”. The mayor had told London residents not to be concerned by a stepped-up police presence in the city after the incident. “No reason to be alarmed”.

After Trump’s tweet Sunday, the acting US ambassador to the U.K., Lewis Lukens, issued a statement commending Mayor Khan for his response to the attacks.

Khan’s “no reason to be alarmed” comment clearly referred to the extra police presence in London, not the weekend’s attacks themselves.

“I’ve been doing far more important things over the last 24 hours”, he says.

Penny Mordaunt, the Conservative candidate for Portsmouth North, said Mr Khan was right to provide reassurance.

Politicians in the United Kingdom have called on Mrs May to withdraw the invitation for Mr Trump’s state visit later this year.

He was evidently counting on that same level of ignorance when he began tweeting his complaints about court challenges to his executive order attempting to block refugees in general and travelers from certain Muslim countries from entering the US.

Trump’s administration last week asked the Supreme Court to reconsider the legality of his travel ban.
