Apple Updates iOS With ‘Do Not Disturb While Driving’ Mode
Apple’s Senior Vice President of Software Engineering Craig Federighi speaks during the opening keynote address the 2017 Apple Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) at the San Jose Convention Center on June 5, 2017 in San Jose, California.
Apple’s AirDrop feature can be super useful if you want to share a ton of photos with nearby, iPhone-wielding friends. “Although Apple is theoretically late and behind initiatives such as Google’s Tango, we expect ARKit will spur developers to embrace the technology more meaningfully”, he said in a research note Tuesday.
A new smart speaker, updates to iOS, changes to the Apple Watch and much, much more were announced during the event. But how will the new iOS 11 be like? It’ll include an automated text response telling people the person is driving and can not answer at the moment. And if someone were to get a screenshot of your pic or clip, you would receive a notification telling you who did that.
There remains some wiggle room, however, so it’s unclear just how effective the setting will be.
Mind you, this isn’t the only lossless file format to operate using Apple’s services. And on any given day, around 660,000 people are on their cell phones or other electronic devices while driving. A study of in-vehicle video footage estimated that one in five (22%) of road crashes could be caused, at least in part, by driver distraction.
A 64-bit processor can handle vastly more data at once – four billion times as much – as a 32-bit processor, which can help make it faster in use.
Do Not Disturb While Driving is created to eliminate driver distraction.
32-bit processing will also be phased out for Mac use, with Apple telling developers at WWDS that Mac OS High Sierra would be the last model to be able to use 32-bit processing “without compromises”. However, there are still ways advocates are looking for ways to lower the usage of texting while driving.
