Watch the Microsoft E3 Press Briefing Right Here
After an interview with Kevin Gammill from the Xbox Engineering team in which he talked the kit’s power and functionality, user complaints bemoaned the lack of USB-C because it means zero chances for it on the retail kit. Here are the big announcements we expect to see at E3 2017.
Microsoft announced yesterday a sale on the Xbox One S. Select Xbox One S bundles are discounted by $50 on the Microsoft online store. Scorpio at E3 2017, however, is a certainty.
Note – this live stream will kick off on Sunday, June 11 at 2pm PST/5pm EST.
E3 is the biggest gaming show of the year where the biggest names announce and showoff their incoming titles. “Have you ever wanted to play as not Master Chief for 75% of a Halo campaign?”If the answer is “yes”, to any of those questions then you should let them know the Xbox One S is on sale”. Project Scorpio will be Microsoft’s third Xbox One model, following the 2013 original and last year’s Xbox One S, and is set to increase the console’s processing, memory, and output capacities, potentially making it the most powerful living room console on the market. Happy gaming, new Xbox fans! What it needs is third-party game developers to keep the Switch buzz going.
We’re not sure how much it will cost, but experts have suggested the high-tech console could cost around £500.
Wireless VR is one of the biggest challenges facing the growing technology, with issues surrounding lag and responsiveness having proved to be problems for companies like HTC and Oculus. The platform doesn’t have any exclusives like Sony’s Playstation 4 console because Microsoft believes PC gaming is the future. But the big draw of Project Scorpio is how it seeks to offer native 4K support for games. It’s a pretty successful offering on the part of Sony, but they could stand to improve their VR software with a few more big-name titles.
It seems that virtual reality won’t be the home for many full-length, conventionally large games. What concerns me though is how much the console will retail for outside of North America in regions like Australia where technology is notoriously more expensive than in the US.
Phil Spencer, fresh off of criticizing consumers for wanting more backwards compatibility than they actually use, tweeted that their upcoming conference will longer than the usual 90 minutes.
Industry heavyweights including Nintendo, Ubisoft and Activision will all be among those revealing new products at the show.
But the specifics can’t be easily predicted. Forza. We get new entries in all these franchises in a regular cycle, like clockwork. Stay tuned to PCMag.com for all the news.
