Watch Ronda Rousey KO Bethe Correia at UFC 190
“And I hope this is the last time”.
And with Rousey having essentially cleaned out the women’s bantamweight division in just six UFC fights, she looks at the pending Tate fight as a unique challenge. This is a record in the UFC history.
In this photo released by Inovafoto, Ronda Rousey, right, of the United States, fights Brazil’s Bethe Correia during their mixed martial arts bantamweight title fight at UFC 190, early Sunday, August 2, 2015, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Rousey’s journey to Rio is a multifaceted decision designed to reach her goals – just like almost everything she does. Once the bell sounded, Rousey immediately took over, displaying a much improved striking game. Correia was overwhelmed, facing a shot that sent her backwards.
Before we talk about Ronda Rousey’s continued unprecedented dominance, let’s do a quick recap of her recent performance.
On top of being an undefeated fighter, she’s both a tough cookie and a smart one.
With Correia having drawn notice by defeating Rousey’s friends and former training partners Jessamyn Duke and Shayna Baszler, Rousey called for the match following her defeat of Zingano. “I guess you can’t doubt my hands anymore”, Rousey said in the octagon afterward. “Don’t cry”, Rousey told her as she walked away, a verbal payback for Correia telling Rousey during weigh-ins on Friday to not cry.
I consider the matter settled. “I don’t have to think about her again after this day”. As far as I’m concerned, it’s over and done with.
Correia said she was unaware of her father’s death when she made the comment and quickly apologized.
“I don’t regret anything“.
If is very hard to see Rousey losing this fight. “It was my point of view and what I believed in”. I think that fight is massive. The event was wonderful.
“I want to thank everyone for coming out tonight”, Silva said.
Rousey also said she was fighting for her idol, the late Hall of Fame wrestler “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, who had inspired her to take the same nickname.
Demian Maia was awarded a Perforance of the Night bonus for his second round submission of Neil Magny on the Fox Sports 1 preliminary card.
