Tottenham transfer news: Spurs striker Roberto Soldado ‘targeted by Benfica
Roberto Soldado has reportedly signalled his intention to leave Tottenham Hotspur for Spanish side Villarreal.
Tottenham are ready to accept £11million for Roberto Soldado and have opened talks with Villarreal over a deal.
The source also states that Spurs had received plenty of interest from La Liga clubs for Soldado, with Sevilla mentioned as a possible destination, as well as Portuguese champions Benfica.
Former Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas brought both players in using funds from the sale of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid and the duo have managed just nine Premier League goals in a combined total of 90 top tier appearances.
It is thought that Spurs may be willing to part with the player for as little as £10m, having paid £26m for him two seasons ago.
If Soldado leaves, then Tottenham will have to sign a replacement as they will have only Harry Kane and Emmanuel Adebayor as their recognised strikers.
Radio MARCA claim he’s already agreed personal terms to join the Yellow Submarine and coach Marcelino Garcia Toral remains confident that he’ll be arriving at the El Madrigal imminently.
