Sherlock will be less rude in Victorian-era episode: Creator
There will be a slight difference in the way the characters speak, Sherlock will have the manners of a Victorian gentleman rather than acting like a brat, and Watson will be a bit more upright.
The special episode of “Sherlock” will see stars Cumberbatch and Freeman travelling to the Victorian England.
Mr. Moffat said Sherlock is more of a Victorian gentleman in the special. We’re still not sure when it will air (executive producer Mark “Mycroft’ Gatiss once stated it was to be a Christmas special), though creator Steven Moffat did have a few tidbits to share about it during a recent Q&A session at the summer TCA Press Tour”.
Well, we certainly didn’t know Dr. Watson can get any more uptight that he already is!
The is assumed to be a Christmas special, but Moffat has also previously said that it’s not really. “We’re not making this up”.
Looks like it’s time to get our corsets and derby hats ready for another BBC Sherlock Holmes craze!

As Moffat put it, they “never bothered explaining what they were doing in modern London, so why bother explaining what they’re doing in Victorian London, when that’s where they’re supposed to be?” “We are in very close touch with the BBC, and we are working very hard to not frustrate the fans…” When asked why then they decided to set the special in the past, Moffat joked, “We checked the books, and decided we got it wrong”.
“Even if the Sherlock Christmas special does not have any actual ghosts in it, according to Seattle P-i, Moffat said that “…it’s a chance to tell a ghost story, a scary story”.
Taking a more serious approach, executive producer Rebecca Eaton noted that the show’s producers are cognizant of the fact fans are getting restless the longer they go without news.
– Season 4 of Sherlock will go into production next spring-and will also return to modern times.
