Johanna Konta admits she is finding the Wimbledon experience “draining” but insists she has the stamina to mount a serious challenge for the title at SW19. It wasn’t your average tennis fall.
“It’s a nice feeling not to have to keep going out there”, Konta said.

“I’m very happy with that”, said Konta, speaking after the match.
“Again, I’m very much taking it one match at a time but I’m definitely working towards staying involved for a full two weeks”.
The Frenchwoman is ranked No 22 in the world and as a veteran of seven Roland Garros campaigns, she knows what it is like to play at her home grand slam in front of her home crowd.
Watson is one of four British players in action on Friday, the most to reach the Wimbledon third round for 20 years.
Her next opponent, Caroline Garcia of France, narrowly won their last encounter, but with the crowd here increasingly growing to love her, Konta can be optimistic of reaching her first Wimbledon quarter-final.
“Well, look at us, 5,000, however many years we’ve been on earth, looking to dominate each other”, she said.
Second seed Simona Halep or former world number one Victoria Azarenka, who beat Konta’s fellow Briton Heather Watson, wait beyond Garcia in a tough section of the draw.
“You do not get to where she has got to in her career without being a really good player”, she said.
Her display suggested there is more to come from the youngster in the future.
At that point the watching Ann Jones, 1969 Wimbledon champ, decided the match was over as she exited the stands.
“That’s the best atmosphere I’ve ever played in in my life”. Obviously we want to try and do better, aim as high as you can.
Konta said: “Unlikely I’ll be seeing U2”.
Home favourite Heather Watson beat 18th seed Anastasija Sevastova 6-0, 6-4 to reach the third round at the championships for the third time.
But he revealed it still takes a bit of getting used to, especially when things aren’t going your way.
Johanna Konta made good of the rest and did what she had to do.
