AC/DC’s Phil Rudd denies breaching detention rules

AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd has pleaded not guilty to breaching rules of his home detention sentence by drinking alcohol.

A New Zealand decide allowed Rudd to stay in house confinement on bail pending a November listening to on the attainable breach.

Rudd, 61, was on July 9 sentenced to eight months home detention for threatening to kill and possessing methamphetamine and cannabis, and was ordered not to consume alcohol while serving his sentence. However, drinking alcohol would likely be considered on the lower end of potential breaches.

The 61-year-old was arrested last month at his mansion in Tauranga, in New Zealand’s North Island, and charged with possessing and consuming alcohol.

He is also monitored electronically and has been warned that any breach of the conditions of his home detention could see him sent to prison.

And although he has played shows with the band numerous times, Phil has not been invited on AC/DC’s current tour, with his former bandmate Angus Young revealing they haven’t spoken to him since their “Black Ice World Tour” ended in 2010.

Rudd, who arrived flanked by a worker and his lawyer Craig Tuck, will appear before Judge Robert Wolff.

After a hearing on Monday (July 2), reporters asked Rudd whether he felt nervous, to which he replied: “No, the only thing I’m nervous about is I don’t, I don’t actually don’t know what’s going on”.
