Froome Tour favourite says Aru
“I think that with the two consecutive stages in the Alps and the finish in altitude, there could be big gaps”, said Bardet, Froome’s runner-up a year ago. “We’ll keep fighting and keep going forward, always without giving up”.
Cycling is an odd sport.
“A lot of people in that group were happy to try to distance him”, Froome said.
“I gave it my best”, Cilic said.
“But, still, I think we put him in some trouble”. Aru is just 18 seconds behind Froome while Bardet is behind only 23 seconds. No big deal, right?
Britain’s Chris Froome managed to finish seventh but reclaimed the yellow jersey after a vigorous uphill sprint at the end.
Having dropped from 25sec off the yellow jersey to 1:44 back after his crash, Martin has recovered 32sec of his deficit in just four days.
After Federer raced to a 3-0 lead in the second set, Cilic cried while he was visited by a doctor and trainer.
You can watch Tour de France 2017 on FuboTV live online. He lost in the 2014 and 2015 Wimbledon finals to Novak Djokovic, and in the semifinals previous year after erasing match points to get past Cilic in a five-set quarter-final.
LeMond questioned the riders’ desire to win the Tour. His victory Thursday only bolstered his self-confidence. “You have to stay humble before the event, and I’m just trying to do my best and we’ll see where that takes me in a week’s time”.
“AG2R rode like they were riding for the team classification”. Chris Froome (Sky) 64:40:21 2. Of a nine-man GC group that came into the finale, six finished ahead of Froome.
Froome’s main asset in the final stretch will be the strength of his teammates. His team is still strong. Despite the presence of Nairo Quintana and Alejandro Valverde, the team is reportedly offering Landa a leadership role for the Giro d’Italia.
“It’s still so close in the top five there, anyone within a minute is a potential threat”, added Froome.
The race will head towards the Alps after Monday’s rest day, with stages on Wednesday and Thursday potentially decisive before Saturday’s time trial in Marseille.
“The climbs are much longer and all it takes in this Tour is a great day for Romain and not such a good day for Froome or all the other guys up there”.
That strength could also be Sky’s weakness, however, as Landa may fancy his own chances after some impressively smooth rides in the mountains.
We still have hard roads ahead of us, especially in the Alps. That is wrong. Despite this hiccup, Froome will very likely win another yellow jersey.
It’s not the first time Froome has found himself facing the ire and even hatred of fans by the roadside.
The parade is over.
