Q2 Weather: Our pattern of hot days and evening storms continues

The temperatures are little cooler with slightly lower humidity by early next week. Highs: Mid-to-upper 90s. More sunshine means a return to more typical July heat with afternoon temperatures in the upper 80s at the beach and lower 90s across the Pee Dee.
Authorities also warn that pets and children should not be left unattended in cars, even briefly. Dew points remain very high as well in the upper 60s and low 70s. Isolated areas of heavy rain are possible. Highs in the mid 90s on Monday with an afternoon shower or storm.
It’s a risky combination and it will be persistent with each of the next three afternoons likely to reach a heat index of 100-degrees or higher through Saturday afternoon.
Tuesday will feature highs from 85 to 90 in most of Central and Eastern Kentucky.
If your home does not have air conditioning, go to a public building every day for several hours. We’re in for a hot day with our first Heat Advisory of the year in effect through the afternoon. Otherwise, heat indices will be in the triple digits.
We’ve had 3, 90-degree days this Summer. Then a cold front will sweep rain and thunderstorms through the Garden State, followed by cooler air. Highs will be near 100° on Saturday with low-mid 90s on Sunday.
We’re still tracking a prolonged stretch of extreme heat and dangerously high humidity levels. Limit the amount of strenuous activity you do outside and stay hydrated.
