During Thursday’s parole hearing, the famous felon said he never complained about his conviction during the more than eight years he spent behind bars.

“I’ve done my time, I’ve done it as well and respectfully as anyone can”, Simpson said during his testimony. “I’ve missed a lot of time with those kids”. “I’ve done it as well and as respectfully as anybody can”. I’ve honored their verdict.

“He’s been in that prison for nine years”, Felix said. “Make no mistake, I would give it all back, to get these last five years back”.

Simpson appeared before four members of the Nevada Board of Parole Commissioners through a video teleconference, dressed in a light-blue button-down shirt. During the meet, Simpson will remain at the Lovelock prison, about 90 miles northeast of Reno, the parole board said. He got it from a guy, a culinary worker. He’s been behind bars there for almost nine years after a botched attempt to retrieve collectibles he once owned from a sports memorabilia dealer in Las Vegas.

Additionally, Simpson said he was serving as a counselor for other inmates who came to him with their issues and had no disciplinary actions. The prosecutor who helped secure Simpson’s sentence of 33 years for armed robbery, nine of them without parole, also expects he’ll be released.

“I’ve done my time”, he added. “… And to some extent as distasteful the majority of the crimes are that’s here, I find that there’s no stress”. “It wasn’t worth it”.

Four parole board members voted to grant him parole, saying he had community support, stable release plans and he was at a low risk to re-offend.

One of his robbery victims, Bruce Fromong, is expected to speak at the hearing. Panel member Tony Corda asked Simpson about the crime: “What were you thinking?”

Dennis Deninger, professor of Sport Management at Syracuse University, said that it would be hard, but not impossible, for Simpson to make money now that he has been released on parole from prison. Simpson also said that he had missed his children’s birthdays and graduations, and did not expect to have any issues if released on parole. The following year, a judge sentenced him to 33 years at a Nevada state prison that December for 12 charges including robbery, assault and kidnapping.

Following a series of hearings to determine if he should be brought to trial, after the dismissal of a grand jury due to media coverage possibly influencing neutrality, he was brought to court on July 22, 1994.

Simpson’s money troubles started soon after he was acquitted of the murder of his ex-wife and Ron Goldman. “We haven’t heard much from him”.
