Jury selection resumes in Taylor Swift trial
She said she didn’t contact police in order to protect her daughter, saying she didn’t want the incident to “define her life”.
Although Swift tried to keep the matter quiet, her radio programs manager took the matter to KYGO shortly after the incident occurred, and Mueller was sacked.
Andrea Swift has taken the stand. She revealed in her countersuit that any money she wins will be donated to “charitable organisations dedicated to protecting women from similar acts of sexual abuse and personal disregard”.
However, one can’t see where Mueller’s hand is in the photo so unfortunately this is yet another case of “his words” against “her words”.
In September 2015, Mr Mueller sued Swift, denying her allegations and claiming the controversy had caused him to lose his $150,000-a-year job at KYGO-FM. Swift, however, was described as “stoic” and politely acknowledged fans who came to support her in the courtroom gallery.
Swift is expected to give evidence in the case, along with members of her entourage.
Under questioning by his attorney, Mueller said he may have touched Swift’s “rib cage, or rib, or ribs”.
Swift and Mueller met on 2 June 2013 when Swift was touring to promote her album RED.
The US District Court jury is weighing Mueller’s false-accusation claim against Swift’s cross complaint alleging assault and battery.
Wednesday’s testimony was delayed while the judge held a closed hearing with both sides to discuss unspecified evidence.
David Mueller is radio DJ who has reportedly worked in the industry for 20 years.
“I just want to clear my name”, Mueller said of his intentions behind the lawsuit, in which he accuses Swift and her team of fabricating the story that he’d touched the young pop star’s bottom during the photo. As part of the suit, Mueller asked for $3 million in damages to make up for lost earnings and opportunities.
“One of the things that stuck with me was that [Swift] couldn’t believe that, she, after the incident, after he grabbed her, that she thanked them for being there”, she revealed.
In this sketch provided by courtroom artist Jeff Kandyba, former radio host David Mueller appears in federal court Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017, in Denver.
The jury selection is expected to last until Thursday, when a total of eight jurors will be selected out of a pool of 60.
Mueller stated that he didn’t want to go to the Sunday night concert, because he had to work the morning show shift early the next day.
Proceedings ended for the day Tuesday and were set to resume Wednesday. In court Tuesday, Swift wore a black-and-white checked dress with a collar and black tights and carried a beige handbag.
Taylor Swift’s attorneys say they aren’t trying to bankrupt a former Colorado DJ accused of groping the pop superstar before a concert. He also asked what possible reason Swift would have to fabricate the allegation.
Mueller testified that he drew that conclusion because Swift didn’t welcome him into the photograph and paid more attention to his girlfriend at the time.
