'The Bachelorette' Finale Ratings Down From 2016 But Hits Season Highs
And I just think that’s a tribute to, you know, Rachel’s genuineness and the fact that everybody gets along with her.
So, now that Rachel’s journey has concluded – she got engaged to Bryan Abasolo after a grueling finale on Monday night – how did the show handle its “historic” season? In my recaps I have written glowingly about Rachel, but I have also criticized her, saying she – a smart, funny, lovely lawyer – got brainwashed by the show. Her pride wouldn’t let her not do what she wanted to do and that was she wanted a proposal and Peter didn’t want that. As Rachel and Peter’s conversation quickly went south due to his unwillingness to propose after only knowing Rachel for two-and-a-half months, hopes and dreams across the nation were completely shattered. Rachel Lindsay being there at the Bachelorette finale not only added more perspective to her thoughts during the show but it was perspective that came with time.
The reality TV star respects her choice and wishes Rachel all the happiness in the world. During their heart-to-heart, Peter told Rachel he wasn’t ready to propose, but also didn’t want to lose her.
Would you watch Rachel and Bryan if they chose to star in a Bachelorette spinoff? Maybe her third-place finisher Eric Bigger, who’s about as much of a class act as a guy can be in this franchise? I still was running away from it.
Bryan Abasolo: She’ll just tell me where to show up and I will be there. Eric also teased that they would be meeting again in the future. They acknowledged that it’s tough for Rachel because of all the judgment headed her way.
Eric admitted that he previously approached Rachel at the gym and even commended her for working hard in keeping her body fit.
Considering that Rachel kind of went for the runner-up anyway, this relationship has some serious issues from the get-go. It was in the heat of the moment, I was very emotional and I shouldn’t have said it. Rachel added the ideal dose of insight without tipping her hand too much about what was coming in the finale episode. Rachel doesn’t want him to do that, she worries that he’ll end up resenting her for it. You can just see the pain in Peter’s face and it looks like he tried to reach out to her after filming but she wasn’t having it.
Although Bryan agreed to the part about getting to know each other off camera, People reports he gave Rachel a “playful nudge” when asked about a spinoff and stated that “it could happen, maybe down the line”. I was very apologetic for it.
The Bachelorette season 13 finale wasn’t flawless.
