New Giants wide receiver James Jones looking forward to competing
“It just allows you to go out there and play and not think too much.”I’m just here to compete”. But all the ninth-year wideout and newest Giant said all he is concerned with right now is having fun and a chance to compete.
“One of the main reasons (I chose the Giants) was because I wanted to get in a similar offense to the one I played in with Green Bay”. Jones’s last season was with the Raiders and his production suffered because of it. Jones is 31 however he was a playmaker in his younger days.
But Jones had his best season during his time in Green Bay from 2007-2013, winning Super Bowl XLV with the Packers in 2010 and turning in a big year in 2012 with 64 catches for 784 yards and a league-leading 14 touchdown catches.
NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport reported Jones initially reported would be meeting with the New York Giants. Jones had offers coming in from the Eagles, Chiefs, Seahawks, and Bengals however the Giants had something none of those teams have, Ben McAdoo.
“I remember the great year he had, and then last year he caught a number of balls, he led the Oakland team”, coach Tom Coughlin said.
