Guam: Small But Important Piece of US Territory in Pacific
The US island territory’s Office of Civil Defence began distributing fact sheets, Preparing for an Imminent Missile Threat, on Friday, to help people prepare for an attack. It’s not idle debate.
After strong words from President Donald Trump promising “fire and fury” in response to continued threats from Pyongyang, North Korea threatened to launch a nuclear missile attack on the United States military in Guam.
The Philippine defense department on Saturday, August 12, said it has directed one of its agencies to determine areas to be “potentially although remotely” affected by debris if North Korea launches missiles toward Guam.
Among the tips: don’t use hair conditioner.
“Remove your clothing to keep radioactive material from spreading”.
Carlin also said it was unusual that North Korea issued a specific target threat for a test but he added that it’s also not unprecedented.
“We are improving our readiness not only in the air, but as a logistical support team”, Col. R. Scott Jobe, the 35th Fighter Wing commander, said in a statement.
Trump echoed that threat Thursday, insisting if North Korea took any steps to attack Guam, its leaders would have reason to be nervous.

Even as the president reiterated that a unanimous vote of the U.N. Security Council last week for additional sanctions was “a great job”, he suggested they would not work to change Pyongyang’s behavior.

“The first missionaries came here in the 1600s and brought the faith to our island”, Gofigan told CNN.
“Faith is so deeply rooted into our culture”, he said.
Today, as Pyongyang once again calls Guam out by name, the island’s governor, Eddie Baza Calvo, says there is “no threat” to the island.
Trump said he did not want to talk about diplomatic “back channels” with North Korea after US media reports that Joseph Yun, the USA envoy for North Korea policy, had engaged in diplomacy for several months with Pak Song Il, a senior diplomat at Pyongyang’s United Nations mission, on the deteriorating ties and the issue of Americans imprisoned in North Korea.
