Anthony Scaramucci Defends Trump and Takes Potshots at Bannon on Colbert
On Monday night’s “Late Show”, Scaramucci said he believes top advisor Steve Bannon has been leaking information to the media, and if it were up to him, Bannon would be gone from Trump’s administration. And, unlike the president, Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, James Corden, Seth Meyers, and Stephen Colbert came equipped to unequivocally indict the rally, its participants, and the president’s two days of inaction.
“Nazis, good or bad?” the show host asked. “It’s something that should be completely and totallly intolerated”. Here’s a review of the best 16 lines from the Mooch. I obviously was caught on tape saying he was.
Mooch on the Nazis.
Trump initially criticized the “hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides” on Saturday and didn’t single out the groups responsible for the march until Monday. On Fox News, Tucker Carlson and Newt Gingrich both came to the attorney general’s defense – a rare break from Trump for the network’s opinion coverage. Look, the President could be living even higher on the hog than he now is, so give him a break, OK? Which is why it was baffling how little insight Scaramucci could or would offer on the topic.
But The Mooch has insisted he was “misrepresented” by the media during his time under Trump. Even with his short stint in the public eye, Scaramucci became nearly a household name (at least in households that are consumed by our national political drama). Trump seems to believe that by playing exclusively to his base – which isn’t even the entire GOP – he can keep winning elections.
Gerstman posits that Scaramucci is looking for something bigger and glitzier than being a contributor to a network like Fox News or CNN, which, coincidentally, might be looking to add a few Trump surrogates right now.
This, oddly enough, is the working title of my second novel. “That’s him expressing himself”.
“That’s a rough photo”, the Mooch commented amid boos, adding the relationship between the two had been fine back when he was donating money to the Republican Party and Priebus was the head of RNC.
“It was late, I’m not going to say it wasn’t, but he did go to the White House today and he did make a statement that was very declarative against it”, Scaramucci said. Not many punches pulled in that quote. In an unintended laugh line, he declared: “I know [Trump] as a compassionate person”. “Maybe if he was doing hot yoga in there or something”.
“That’s a good line”.
Scaramucci also stuck by his intuition that Priebus was one of the White House leakers.
