Anthony Scaramucci Defends Trump and Takes Potshots at Bannon on Colbert

On Monday night’s “Late Show”, Scaramucci said he believes top advisor Steve Bannon has been leaking information to the media, and if it were up to him, Bannon would be gone from Trump’s administration. And, unlike the president, Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, James Corden, Seth Meyers, and Stephen Colbert came equipped to unequivocally indict the rally, its participants, and the president’s two days of inaction.

Trump initially criticized the “hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides” on Saturday and didn’t single out the groups responsible for the march until Monday. On Fox News, Tucker Carlson and Newt Gingrich both came to the attorney general’s defense – a rare break from Trump for the network’s opinion coverage. Look, the President could be living even higher on the hog than he now is, so give him a break, OK? Which is why it was baffling how little insight Scaramucci could or would offer on the topic.

But The Mooch has insisted he was “misrepresented” by the media during his time under Trump. Even with his short stint in the public eye, Scaramucci became nearly a household name (at least in households that are consumed by our national political drama). Trump seems to believe that by playing exclusively to his base – which isn’t even the entire GOP – he can keep winning elections.

Gerstman posits that Scaramucci is looking for something bigger and glitzier than being a contributor to a network like Fox News or CNN, which, coincidentally, might be looking to add a few Trump surrogates right now.

Scaramucci also stuck by his intuition that Priebus was one of the White House leakers.
