Emerald City Pet Rescue offers discount to help ‘Clear the Shelters’
Normally, animal shelters only offer free pet adoptions for adult dogs and cats.
Oscar Del Abra, supervisor/director of the Port Isabel animal control, said between 53 to 55 pets – dogs and cats – will be available for adoption.
Potential adopters are asked to fill out adoption applications that can be picked up at the Humane Society’s office or downloaded from the HSEC website (ElkhartHumaneSociety.org).
The Waterville shelter is now open noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday; noon to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday; and noon to 5 p.m. Saturday.
Shelters like Emerald City Pet Rescue all over the country are lowering or waiving adoption fees to make it easier for people to take home a furry buddy.
Thousands of animals have found their forever homes thanks to our Clear the Shelters event. “The community has always given us such great support, so we expect to have a great turnout this Saturday”.
Snowden called Dogs and Design “an fantastic rescue group” that has found homes for more than 130 pets that had been in Brenham’s shelter. The shelter had the most adoptions in IN for Clear the Shelters day. All adoptions are subject to approval.
The goal is to clear the shelters so more animals can be taken in and adopted out.
A year later that number jumped to almost 20,000 as the adoption drive went national, with more than 400 shelters taking part across the country. “When you adopt a mixed-breed puppy, you don’t necessarily know how big they’re going to get, how much they’re going to shed, things like that”.
All animals will be spayed, neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped.
The shelters are hoping all the attention and publicity bring in new people. Their efforts result in many pets finding new loving homes, but unfortunately some pets are left behind and live in shelters for months or even years until they are adopted.
ClearThe Shelters Day is this Saturday.
