WWE Summerslam 2017: What to expect
Not only does it give Corbin, the heel, something to feed his character for the next few months, it also gives more heat behind his match with Cena and if Nakamura wins the title (whether that’s at SummerSlam or in another month), it gives him the full spotlight. Apparently there was a cosmic price to pay for Cena taking down that promising group, however, and it was any future victories at WWE’s major August pay-per-view.
Brock Lesnar will go up against three heavyweights for the Universal Championship title.
The Universal champion’s advocate Paul Heyman has said they both will leave WWE if Lesnar is not victorious in a fatal-four-way match for his title against Samoa Joe, Braun Strowman, and Roman Regins. Cena had no chance, from start to finish, and the match only went on as long as it did because Lesnar hadn’t finished sending a message yet.
Brock Lesnar faces a tall task in Brooklyn on Sunday. With Lesnar rumored to be headed back to the UFC for a potential fight against Jon Jones, a new champion will most likely be crowned here.
Many fans were speculating that this would be the match where Baron Corbin cashes in his Money in the Bank briefcase, but after Corbin cashed in and failed to win the title on SmackDown Live, that’s no longer an option.
Like WrestleMania, Cena will not be the star attraction at SummerSlam.
WWE’s Hall of Fame page for Donald Trump describes him as an “innovator of real estate, politics, and reality television”, with his surname being “synonymous with wealth and power”. Look for Rusev to potentially win.
– Shane McMahon will be the special guest referee for this match, and that could be bad news for Styles. Conventional thinking suggests Styles will come out on top, with McMahon possibly playing a role in the outcome, thus setting up a feud with Owens.
Cesaro and Sheamus (champions) vs. I’m looking at probably early next year.
Finn Bálor’s demon king persona (full body paint and all) will return to television for the first time since he won the Universal title past year at SummerSlam.
When it comes to defending their Smackdown Live Tag Team Championships, The New Day says bring it on. Could Summerslam 2017 be the event where her winning streak will break? Weird as it sounds, I expect this to be a great match with Ambrose and Rollins going on to strengthen the tag team division. The Boss will try and topple Alexa Bliss and while that might be a big task to defeat such a little girl Banks is up for the challenge.
It would be hard to name two Superstars who should be utilized better on RAW than Finn Bálor and Bray Wyatt. Could a cash-in be coming at “SummerSlam” PPV?
– Cesaro’s first career WWE pay-per-view match occurred at SummerSlam in 2012 when he defeated Santino Marella for the United States Championship, and he remains the only superstar in WWE history to win the United States Title in his WWE pay-per-view debut.
