LG V30 launched with OLED FullVision display
Thanks to this massive, immersive display, VR is going to be better than ever before.
When it comes to the camera, it has seen the most drastic change from the previous LG flagship, V20. Now, the V30 has finally been revealed, upping the ante in quite a few ways. And in comparison to its predecessor, we wholeheartedly prefer the V30’s new look, and find it to be more attractive this time around.
Other photography features include Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS) and Hybrid Auto Focus that combines both Laser Detection Auto Focus and Phase Detection Auto Focus.
The fingerprint scanner is mounted on the rear side of the LG V30 as usual. The phone is constructed from metal and glass to a military grade standard (MIL-STD 810G) and boasts Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5 front and back. Instead of dual 13MP cameras, the V30 uses a 16MP + 13MP dual-camera setup at the rear. The V30 has a thickness of 7.33mm and weighs 158grams. The smartphone is a Water and Dust resistant with IP68 rating.
The device comes with a 6-inch QHD+ (1440×2880 pixels) OLED FullVision display, taking the pixel density to 538ppi. Users can perform many V30-specific features on the Assistant such as the ability to start off the camera in various modes using just the voice. The side bezels are not visible and the upper and lower bezels are slim which allows the LG phablet to deliver an aspect ratio of 82 percent. Unlike the Galaxy Note 8, the V30 has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It also features a microSD card slot that supports up to 2 TB microSD card.
LG is yet to announce the price of the V30. The phablet relies on a 3,300 mAh battery.
Unlike a year ago where the LG V20 was the first phone to come pre-installed with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, the LG V30 only gets Android 7.1.2 Nougat, which is not bad at all, considering that only Google Pixel and Nexus phones are now installed with this OS – via an update. Interestingly, the company has added a feature called Cine Video mode which will enable users to record high-quality videos. Its safe to presume that LG will rollout the Android Oreo upgrade as soon as possible. LG V30 also includes facial recognition and voice recognition for unlocking. The larger lens has a standard configuration and the smaller is a wide angle one. Much like it is in the LG G6. On the front, the smartphone has a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. LG G6 was good in terms of audio but, LG has improved the audio experience in LG V30.
Last year’s V20 introduced the 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC, which allowed for better sound. The LG V30 will be launched on September 21 in select markets and the pricing information is awaited. Weighing 158g and 7.3mm thick, the smartphone is, according to LG, also “the lightest among smartphones in the 6-inch and over category”. This comparison was based on specs on paper.
