Labor Day weekend weather: Nice
Harvey, no longer a tropical storm, is moving into northern Louisiana and away from our area. Unfortunately it continues to look like that will not be the case this year, as the remnants from what was once Hurricane Harvey try to push in from our south.
Labor Day weekend will see warmer temperatures and mostly sunny skies.
The big weather story is the chance of rain this afternoon through early tomorrow morning.
The chance is precipitation is 60 percent, and it will fall to 40 percent in the evening. High: Mid-upper 80s. Winds should be calm before stirring slightly out of the southeast. Highs 80-85. Cooler on the Cape and the Islands.
Sunday night – Partly cloudy, with a low around 72. Lows in the lower 70’s. Winds E 5-10 miles per hour.
Those clouds are going to thicken more tonight and give us a mostly cloudy Friday. The red flag warning, issued in periods of high fire danger, is in effect from 1 p.m.to 9 p.m. Friday. Highs will reach the upper 60s. Temperatures will eventually warm up to the low 70s. A couple of afternoon showers could arrive in our area Tuesday afternoon or evening, but otherwise it should be partly sunny. Cooler, below normal temperatures will return Tuesday through Wednesday after the cold front passes on through. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 53. High: Low-mid 80s.
Drier air will work into Alabama today, but a few showers remain possible, especially over the northern third of the state, closer to the surface low to the north.
