Texans/Cowboys preseason game canceled so players can return to Houston
Thursday’s preseason game between the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans has been cancelled, WFAA confirmed.
The initial goal was smashed within hours, so Watt raised the goal to $500,000 and has kept raising the bar since.
Goldman Sachs economists say the storm has reduced the chance of Trump acting on his threat to shut the federal government over funding for a border wall with Mexico from 50 per cent to 35 per cent.
“That is unprecedented and up until this point rescuers have really used every minute of their time trying to reach the backlog of desperate calls for help to get to those who life is in imminent danger”, she added. You don’t need to give millions of dollars to make a difference.
We’re now over $8.5 Million. “Please get to higher ground if you can, but please try stay out of attics”.
“It’s very hard, not only because we have family and friends back there”, Watt said. “My teammates and I are going to go directly into the community to some areas that were hit very hard and we’re going to hand those out”. The Texans had been practicing at Dallas’ facility in Frisco this week, and the game was briefly moved to the Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium in Arlington before it was scrapped today.
Recovery efforts from Hurricane Harvey will be massive.
“JJ Watt has been an exemplary humanitarian and Houstonian”, the petition states. The foundation is asking for donations of blankets, non-perishable food items like peanut butter, fruit cups and tuna, plastic silverware and other items.
Several of Watt’s National Football League rivals have contributed big bucks-Tennessee Titans owner Amy Adam Strunk donated $1 million to the YouCaring drive.
MLB, the National Football League and the NBA donated $1 million each to relief efforts, Jim Crane and the Astros’ ownership group donated $4 million, and Houston Rockets owner Leslie Alexander chipped in $10 million as well.
Jim Crane, owner of the Astros, is working with the team and plans to give $4 million.
A host of celebrities have also donated, including actors Leonardo DiCaprio and Sandra Bullock who have both donated $1m. As are Major League Baseball and its players association.
