Rookie Kareem Hunt’s record-breaking National Football League debut

Brady could still win the MVP, the Pats could still win the Super Bowl, and the Chiefs could go back to the conservative play calling to which we’ve grown accustomed.

He totaled 246 scrimmage yards in his debut which is the most any rookie had in his National Football League debut since the 1970 merger. Hunt also caught five passes for 98-yards and two touchdowns.

The biggest surprise for me was the red zone offense.

After the game, Hunt said he was pleased with how he responded to the fumble. “Just wasn’t going to happen”.

Linebacker Derrick Johnson said Hunt’s attitude following the fumble impressed him. “We’re like the underdogs, a lot of people didn’t believe in us”. “I just had to keep playing through it, not get down on myself and keep making plays”.

Back to Hill: During that touchdown, he flashed a peace sign at the Patriots’ defense, which was lagging far behind.

Hunt rushed for more than 850 yards in each of his four seasons, including a career-best 1,631 yards and 16 touchdowns as a sophomore, when he registered 163.1 yards per game and 8.0 yards per carry. With that recent history in mind, it’s unlikely reputable pundits will make similarly doomsday predictions following the Pats’ 42-27 blowout defeat Thursday.

Sure, Tom Brady & Co. scored some points, but this was a letdown to say the least.

The Rams play the Indianapolis Colts Sept. 10, and I dare you to name a defensive back for the Colts. I know I’m better than that.

Like a true perfectionist, Hunt enjoyed the success of his team’s big win but still fixated on the mistake that kept him a split-second from perfection. “It started out just a little bit shaky but it was all heart”. “I think that makes you tough to defend”.
