Police sources said the parents of the boy refused to accept the body after the post-mortem examination and maintained they would not cremate the body till the culprits were caught. Sabeeha, mother of a student who studies in one of the NCR branches of Ryan International School, said, “This is disturbing”. Another parent said, “Repairs that aren’t urgent should be done only after school hours”.
According to ANI report, locals who joined the agitation set on fire a liquor shop near to the school.
Parents of students gathered outside Ryan International School in Gurugram, expressing discontentment over progress in the case of the seven-year-old’s murder. “The non-teaching staff follows strict guidelines to stay segregated”.
The protestors alleged that school drivers and conductors often consume alcohol from the liquor shop in their free time. A wide breach in the school boundary wall gave an easy access to a killer with a knife. This, they said, had made the playground a den of criminals. A school bus conductor Ashok Kumar has been arrested in connection with the case, who has been accused of attempting to sexually assault the boy and then murdering him when he resisted. Seven-year old’s parents are asking for CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) probe.
At least 50 people, including nine scribes and photo journalists, were injured on Sunday when police baton-charged a group of protestors in front of the school building. There have been demands to revoke the school’s affiliation.
Following this Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has assured immediate action.
The victim’s father said earlier that the sequence of the crime remains unclear.
We have to stop making it so easy for sexual predators to get away with crimes. The Pintos, in their pleas, said while the death of the boy was unfortunate, the management can not be held culpable and that they themselves were victims of the unfortunate circumstances. Following this the father of the deceased student Varun Thakur requested the protesters to maintain peace.
“Acting principal Neerja Batra has been detained and is being questioned”. Notably, the probe was conducted by a team of special investigation team (SIT), which comprised of three officials.
