Congress defends Rahul Gandhi as he slams Centre in US
Gandhi also slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for damaging the Right to Information Act, something that the Congress government had passed to ensure transparency in the functioning of the government.
The Minister said, Mr Gandhi’s remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP are not surprising.
Over three years after his party’s defeat in the Lok Sabha elections, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi admitted on Tuesday that a “certain amount of arrogance” had crept into the party midway through UPA II, and it had stopped having “conversations with people”.
If this wasn’t enough, popular BJP spokesperson, Sambit Patra took to Twitter to to say this, “Astonishing that Congress VP, Rahul Gandhi goes to U.S. and slams his own Country, India. It’s frustration of Rahul speaking.Deplorable!” By the way, last, I recall, Mr Ambanis are running the business.
“The ruling BJP is spreading hatred, anger, violence and politics of polarisation”, Gandhi said while talking about the recent killing of Kannada journalist Gauri Lankesh in Bengaluru and about mobs lynching people on suspicion of eating beef. Then she went on to add, “After failing to connect with the people of India, Mr Gandhi chooses a platform of convenience for berating his political opponents”. Yet, the opposition to Modi-led BJP and its politics of Hindutva isn’t driven by the Congress or the Opposition parties. That was when he was anointed Congress vice president, and not many outside the party were convinced by the image of the noble scion forced to take up the mantle reserved for him.
During his visit to Germany in 2015, Modi had said that India was “begging earlier and will not beg any more” which too was seen to be in poor taste. “Ignoring India’s tremendous institutional knowledge and taking ad hoc decisions is reckless and unsafe”, Rahul said, adding “the government was creating only 500 jobs against a demand of 30,000 per day”.
– So he (PM Modi) massively opened up space for the terrorists in Kashmir, and you saw the increase in violence. The Kashmiri youth had been given a “vision” and employment opportunities by the Congress government.
Moreover, what stood out in his speech was his acceptance to be a product of dynastic politics which he called a “problem” while reminding everyone that this is the way most of the country runs. Prasad said when BJP leaders went overseas “at the height of corruption” by the Manmohan Singh government, they were “muted” despite the worldwide outcry. Smriti Irani challenged Rahul Gandhi to debate among the public. “Demonetisation, a completely self-inflicted wound, resulted in a loss of 2 percent in the GDP”, he said. “In fact, I am with them in their quest for justice, 100 per cent”, he said.
