Colts to switch to Brissett at QB
Acquired in a September 2 trade with the World Champion New England Patriots, Brissett replaced Week 1 starter Scott Tolzien, who threw two Pick-6s in the loss to the Rams, and directed a vanilla offensive game plan that produced only one TD. Cardinals running back David Johnson has suffered a wrist injury and could be out for half the season.
Come Monday, however, one of those teams is going to be staring at a daunting National Football League statistic that they are not going to like at all. WR T.Y. Hilton needs 122 yards receiving to pass Lenny Moore for No. 4 in franchise history.
The teams will get back in the saddle at Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday, and there is a feeling of desperation in the air.
The injuries will tax the offensive line and force Chudzinski to turn to a second starting combo in as many games.
Multiple Cardinals have called it a must-win.
Add two more starters to the Colts’ list of walking wounded this week. However, it has problems of its own. Hooker had an interception of Arizona QB Carson Palmer, killing a second-quarter drive.
Wetzel, who struggled in relief of Humphries last week in a loss at Detroit, will start at left tackle.
The Cardinals should win this game handily. A couple of nice receptions by receivers Chad Williams, Jaron Brown, and J.J. Nelson. They’re not burning the playbook in Week 2 in his absence, but it’s very possible that they skip over a few pages with him out.
– After watching the preseason, I really thought the Cardinals had solved all their major problems. If the Cardinals want to save their season they better figure out a way to change up their offense. Pagano could star Scott Tolzien or Jacoby Brissett.
Arians has always been known for his aggressive play calling and willingness to go for the deep shot on each and every play. Chandler (Jones) doesn’t have to get every sack. But they need their stars (let’s start with T.Y. Hilton and Johnathan Hankins, who are paid like “stars”), to step up with the team heading down a risky path. Yards after catch from Hilton. So we’ve got a bunch of young guys that have got to grow up in a hurry. Dawson missed one field goal, kicking it off the left upright. “I’ve never been around one, during games, and that’s what surprised me about the other day, because he has been so resilient”. The Cardinals had built their offense around the Johnson, who also caught 80 passes in 2016.
