James Corden jokingly apologizes for Sean Spicer kiss
The Emmys surprise came together just a few days before Sunday’s telecast.
The former White House press secretary later told Deadline the appearance was an “opportunity to be a little self-deprecating and laugh at yourself”.
As it turned out, Spicer was whooping it up with celebs at Emmys after-parties and the like.
But there were also some viewers who were not pleased by Spicer’s stunt at the 69th Emmys. That means Spicer was impersonating his impersonator.
“I certainly hope not”, Spicer told the Times. “I am, I’ve have been reading a lot of harsh comments on Twitter today, and I hear you loud and clear, truly, I do”, Corden says.
But back to Spicer’s disguise. Spicer wouldn’t say, but a friend hinted to the Times that it involved facial hair. He remained in his hotel room, save for a walk-through of the hall where the show was to take place. Well during Stephen Colbert’s monologue, Spicer abruptly rolled out onto the stage atop a familiar wheeled podium to echo is a heavily-criticized statement from before, but to the Emmy audience this time.
Mr. Colbert asked, “Sean, do you know?”
Saturday Night Live won 11 Emmys Sunday night, including three for acting (Alec Baldwin, Melissa McCarthy and Kate MacKinnon) and one for overall best Variety Sketch Series, beating out newer, fresher series like Billy on the Street, Documentary Now!

His first “joke” was to reference the initial scandal that made him a household name: blatantly lying that the size of Trump’s inauguration crowd was larger than Obama’s, despite photographic evidence proving otherwise.
“Shame on the Emmys for the Spicer validation”, Olbermann said.
Kellyanne Conway, a senior adviser to Trump, said Spicer was using “alternative facts” when he disputed the inauguration coverage.
The former White House press secretary’s cameo was Colbert’s idea, and they arranged to maximize the surprise factor through Chris Licht, the Colbert producer who knew Spicer from his background in news.
Corden wasn’t the only high profile celebrity that was very happy to pose for a picture with Spicer.
